Export Mapinfo Object to Google Earth

MapInfo version 9.0 and up already bundled with GoogleEarth Link menu. A very useful tool to export MapInfo objects. There are two options for exporting from mapInfo to Google Earth:

1. Export current map window to Google Earth in raster format.

2. Export selected objects (KML)

When you select the first option, your current map window will be exported in raster format. So there will be a white background in your Google Earth.

And the second option will export MapInfo objects as KML format in Google Earth. You still can see your data/table properties in Google Earth.

To export mapinfo objects into Google Earth follow these simple steps.

1. Activate Google Earth Connectivity Utility via Tool|Tool Manager

2. Next, open your data in a map window

3. Select objects you want to export in Google Earth. With objects still selected, navigate to Map|Google Earth Link|Export to Google Earth. Select option Export selected objects (KML) upon the dialog box and press OK

4. Next you will be asked to select between two option:

Export Map Window as raster image (.jpg)
Export Selected Object (KML)

Make sure you select the second option. If you select the first, the entire mapwindow will be exported into GE with white background. Then press OK, the other window will open imediately.

Then you can specify values fo each column and select the source for the place name (you can use your mapinfo data column to be displayed in Google Earth)
