Gnome as the most popular desktop interface in linux. Current stable version of Gnome is version 2.26. But, based on http://www.gnome.org/, Gnome 2.28 Beta is available for download. This release featuring many bugfixes and performance improvements. It looks like the folks behind the GNOME Project are firing on all cylinders, as they have just released the second beta of the upcoming GNOME 2.28, less than two weeks after the first beta was given to the public.
