Ubuntu tutorial How to install Miro in Ubuntu

There are many audio and video player available for download in Ubuntu. Introducing Miro,  a free HD video player. It can play almost any video file and offers over 6,000 free internet TV shows and video podcasts. Miro is a multi platform video player, its available for windows, linux and other system.
Miro has a simple, gorgeous interface designed for fullscreen HD video. Since Miro downloads most videos, you can take your shows with you, even on an airplane. Quite simply, Miro is a better way to watch all the video you care about.

To install Miro in Ubuntu Jaunty, please follow the steps provided here.

GUI Installation

Add this repository to your software source (System|Administration|Synaptic Package Manager) and then go to the Setting|Repositories menu, and choose Third-party Software), copy and paste the following line based on your distro.

 

For Jaunty Jackalope Users

deb http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/pculture.org/miro/linux/repositories/ubuntu jaunty/

For Intrepid Ibex users

deb http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/pculture.org/miro/linux/repositories/ubuntu intrepid/

For Hardy Heron users

deb http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/pculture.org/miro/linux/repositories/ubuntu hardy/

Now, press the reload button to update your system, after that search for “miro”, mark for installation and click Apply.

Using command line

Open your terminal, and execute the following commands to get started.

Edit your /etc/apt/sources.list

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Add one of the repository line provided above, based on your system version. then save and exit the file.

Update your system

sudo apt-get update

Install Miro

sudo apt-get install miro

And to remove miro from your system, you can use this command

sudo apt-get remove --purge miro
