How to transform coordinate in Mapinfo using Encom Discover
Encom Discover has transform coordinate menu that enable us to transform coordinates of a table. This menu is very useful when we need to move or transform one coordinate into others. For more detailed, please follow this example.
1. First make sure your table is mappable and you have the easting(x) and northing(y) coordinates. Also, you must have two other column for the transform result. In my case, I create easttrans and northtrans column for the transformation result.
2. Now, go to Discover|Data Utilities|Transform Coordinates. A transformation window will come up.
3. In the Discover-Coordinate Transformations you can specify the transformation table, transformation target, and transformation type. In my case, I use E, N data columns in the Transformation Target and I choose “Plane” in the Transformation Type. Now press OK. The new window will pop up, see picture below.
4. Specify the transformation columns, select add new transform and fill the common coords of points. In my case, I wan to move all the points 100m (x) and 100m (y) so I fill x=100 and y=100 in the new coords column. Now press OK, the coordinates now transformed into the new coordinates you have specified before.
Here is the final result. The black points are the original, and the reds are 100 m transformed.
