How to graphically install Wine 1.0.1 on Ubuntu Karmic Koala
ByThis is my first time of using Ubuntu Karmic Koala (9.10). I am impressed with this Ubuntu Edition. The boot load faster, menu is responsive and everything try to be made simple by Ubuntu 9.10.
This Ubuntu tutorial will guide you how to graphically install Wine 1.0.1 on Ubuntu Karmic Koala. The first thing is make sure you are connected to the internet (I am not using repository DVD).
1. Activate the universe and multiverse repository under System|Administration|Software Source. I my case I check the option below, under the Ubuntu Software tab on Software Source:
- Canonical-supported Open Source Software (main)
- Community-maintained Open Source Software (universe)
- Proprietary drivers for devices (restricted)
- Software restricted by copyright or legal issues (multiverse)
Then click close and RELOAD to update the repository list.
2. Now we can start installing Wine on Karmic Koala via Applications|Ubuntu Software Centre. Then on the opened window, type “wine” (without quote) in the search box
3. Next the search result will show up, and you can click Wine to start installing Wine.
Click Install to start downloading and installing Wine automatically
4. Wait until downloading progress finished and wine successfully installed.
Ubuntu is now easier for everyone….regards to Ubuntu and the community….:)
