Mandriva 2010 is Faster than Ubuntu 9.10

I have both Ubuntu 9.10 and Mandriva One 2010 installed on my computer. I have been using Ubuntu for many years since version Gutsy Gibbon until Ubuntu 9.10 but I just use Mandriva for a month. Basically I was love Ubuntu than any other linux distro. But after I install Mandriva 2010, I planned to leave Ubuntu as my default OS on my laptop. I know, for some people this is strange, but I have a realistic reason why Mandriva is better than Ubuntu at any aspects.
I am installing both Ubuntu and Mandriva on my Acer Aspire 4520 laptop. And believe or not, Mandriva is faster than Ubuntu 9.10. Not only the booting time, Mandriva desktop response quicker than Ubuntu 9.10. Also the default dekstop of Mandriva 2010 is better than Ubuntu 9.10.
Those kind of circumstance was stay the same when I install both OS on my desktop computer. I am using AMD Phenom II X4 on ASUS M4A78 Pro motherboard. Mandriva seems to be in front of Ubuntu in performance. Every programs installed on Mandriva response faster without any delay like in Ubuntu.
Hmmm….may be its my time to switch my favorite Linux distro from Ubuntu into Mandriva. Welcome Mandriva 2010….

I couldn’t agree with you more. I just tried out Mandriva 2010 One from virtualbox that was running on Ubuntu 9.10 and was amazed at this distro. It’s simply amazing: easy to use and very elegant! The screensaver is classy. Love it all. The next thing I know is to wipe out Ubuntu and have Mandriva as my default desktop OS. Installation was a breeze and stressfree. Everything, including compiz works out of the box. Installing Skype (and all other applications I want) is just one click on the mouse. Wow! I mean WOW. You should try it – at least in virtualbox and you will never regret the switch. Bravo Mandriva and thank you!

What are you using for Mandriva for AMD?!
They only release i586.
I used Mandriva for a while instead of Ubuntu because Skype worked with Mandriva but not Ubuntu. Ubuntu caught up.
I want Mandriva on this my new AMD box but did not follow leads to third party AMD releases.

Ridgeland, you can run Mandriva on both Intel and AMD processors in both 32 and 64 bit mode. Even the newest processors like the Core i7 and Phenom II will support 32-bit mode (i3/4/586). You can get 64-bit editions of Mandriva, however. Here’s the rundown on the editions:
Mandriva One is the live CD, and only comes in a 32-bit version.
Mandriva Free only comes with fully open software by default, and is installer-only. It comes in i586 (32-bit) and x86_64 (64-bit) versions. The x86_64 version is multi-lib, which means it will run 32-bit software as well. I’m personally using this on my three main machines. You can use the online software repositories to install anything you can get with Mandriva One.
Mandriva Powerpack has several extra bundled things like a licensed DVD player and licensed codecs for AAC and MP3. You have to buy this edition from Mandriva. It comes in i586 (32-bit) and x86_64 (64-bit) editions.
If you need the codecs and DVD playback, but don’t want to pay for the Powerpack, the PLF repository includes unlicensed versions of the codecs. Be aware that this is illegal in many countries where patents exist on the technology behind those things.
