How to change theme in Linux

This is a very basic that should be known by most Linux users, especially for newbie in Linux. Linux with its community provide many available themes for free on the net. This tutorial will show you how to change the Linux theme. In this tutorial I am using Mandriva Linux 2010 and Vista Basic Theme for Gnome.

This tutorial will show you how to change this default theme:

into this vista style:

1. Download the Vista Basic for Gnome Theme.

2. Right click on your desktop and chose “Change Desktop Background”. Then click the Theme tab on that window.


3. Now click Install button on the right bottom and point to the .tar.gz file you’ve just downloaded.
4. Now your themes should be changed to the new one, a Basic Vista Look
