How to Open .ogg Video Files in Windows Media Player

By default, Windows Media Player doesn’t support the *.ogg video files. So you cannot open or play this ogg files on Windows Media Player. You will need another software like VLC Media Player for Windows to open the ogg video on Windows system.

But, actually there is a way to enable Windows Media Player to play this ogg video files. Follow this tutorial below to open or add capability to Windows Media Player to open the ogg video.

1. Download and install this ogg codecs for Windows Media Player

2. Now right click on you ogg video file and choose Open With Windows Media Player.

3. Your video shoul be opened now, I’ve test this codecs under Windows 7.

How To Speed Up the Program to load in Windows XP

When you open or run a program inside Windows, the program will save *.dll file to the memory automatically without any confirmation to user. This will increase the memory stress and will result in slow loading of other program. To prevent or to speed up in loading program in Windows, you can do some little tweak to the registry so Windows does not create .dll entries in the main memory.

Follow this steps

1. Backup your registry

2. Open registry editor. Go to Run and type regedit. Then find this string below

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AlwaysUnloadDll

By default AlwaysUnloadDll is not exist, you need to create this entry manually. Right click and select New|New String.

How to Speed Up The Shutdown in Windows XP

Sometimes, I don’t know exactly why, the shutdown process of my computer was very slow. Now, I found the solution. Shutdown process can take a long time because Windows save the last setting of your computer. For example, desktop theme, icon position, and other parameters. But, we can change the registry setting so Windows will not save the settings done automatically by Windows.

First, as usual, backup your registry.

Then open registry editor and find this entries.

Key 1:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
